History
US FIRST began with FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition), the largest forum of competition, in a New Hampshire high school gym in 1992 with 28 teams. Then they added FLL (FIRST LEGO League) in 1998, which was geared towards younger generations. In 2004, FIRST introduced a junior version of their LEGO League, known as Junior LEGO League.
FLL is geared towards very young children, inspiring them to think differently from everybody else. In 2005, FIRST finally introduced FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge), which was a miniaturized version of FRC, in which schools with less resources and/or experience could compete.
Each year, the different branches of FIRST take part in competitions in which the game at hand differs every year. Games range from performing simple tasks to maneuvering through complex challenges. FRC is the main event of FIRST, where the largest competitions take place. Since Maize Craze in 1992, the first game ever to be hosted by FIRST, the games have significantly improved and FIRST has reached over 150,000 members. Last year's FIRST Championship was held in the Georgia Dome. This year's game is known as Breakaway, and it sets new standards for FIRST.
