OCTOBER 2009
Off to a great start already! Our first meeting, nearly seventy-five students showed up to become members of US FIRST Robotics this year, more than what we had expected. We also had a good turn-out for the Alzheimers walk on October 4th. Remember, this year we are advertising students to keep their grades up. After school Thursdays, SAT help is offered in Room 231 by Eden Klingerberg. This year we starting, Robo Training, in which all the existing members and students from last years built team will be staying after schools on Wednesdays to coach and prepare the new members by familiarizing them with the equipment, machinery, and programming before the built season starts in January.
Members, who want to become drivers this year in Robotics, need to start also coming to Robo Training to get started on their practicing their driving skills. Competitions will be held to determine this years robot drivers. We were also invited by Popular Mechanics to the 2009 Breakthrough Awards and were honored as a US FIRST team and got to meet the originator of US FIRST Robotics, Dean Kamen. We also were privileged to meet many other inventors of the century such as Greg Schroll and Alex Kipman, who are inventors of the Versatile Sphere and Project Natal, respectively. Thank You Popular Mechanics for inviting us! We would in addition like to congratulate another team official of the club, Eden Klingerberg, who will be Saunders Spokesperson.
Seniors! Time is on the run! If you would wish to be this part of this years Saunders Robotics Build team, start working on your college applications right now! All applications must be submitted before the Christmas break. We also just found out that the Saunders Culinary Arts major will be supporting the Saunders Robotics team by cooking the food this year for the built team! Thank You Culinary! Moreover, this year we need to start looking for sponsors, so lets get started! We have a lot of work to do!
