Team Efforts

The Saunders Droid Factory team has done many activities to help spread the program of US FIRST throughout the community. Many of the works targeted the community, other students, unprivileged kids, and third-world countries. From about our eighty members, more than 80-90% were involved with the building of the robot but also volunteering throughout the year.

Robo Training

Robo Training is one of the main components that trained new and old student members to learn about the electronics, programming, driving, and the physical making of the robot to get a head start for the Build Season of 2010. We normally stayed after-school on Wednesdays until 4-5 PM where the robotics mentors gave the robotics students the option to start learning either the electronic or mechanical part of the robot. Driver training is done every other week; the students learn how to drive a chassis.

SAT Help

Students volunteer to teach their peers and work together to attain a higher score in the SAT examination under the instruction of an English and Mathematics teacher from Saunders Trades and Technical High School. This session is held once a week on Thursdays after-school with students who are in need of extra practice.

FTC Teams

Four teams created by the Saunders Droid Factory to help students get involved in US FIRST's competitions. These teams learn to make mini-sized robots and compete in a game of their own. They learn how to build, program, and design their robots to compete to win the gold. They also have raised money to support their teams.

Jeans Drive

The Saunders Droid Factory has started the jeans drive in which old and new jeans are sent out to help kids around the world whom cant afford clothes or are in need of help. Every week announcements are send out to students to donate their useable jeans.

Toys Drive

The toys drive is for younger kids who are having family issues at home and dont have the love and care to take the time to smile. The Saunders Droid Factory is raising a collection for these kids to give them a love-filled toy to bring the smiles back to their face. Daily announcements are sent to students every week as both new and old use-able toys are accepted to send out for shipment.

AFYA Foundation

Many the robotics team members go down to the local medical center every week to donate their time to help tune up and fix old useable medical equipment in other countries and giving them the gift of life. Food, water, supplies, blankets, and other equipment are sent out to help them out!
